Restaurant near Grosvenor House on Park Lane

Arriving in March for first trip to London, 3 couples. Staying at GH and not familiar with the area. Our first night we are looking for a Pub or Italian food within short walking distance from the hotel. Any suggestions? Is this area called Mayfair? Thanks

Yes, the area around the hotel is called Mayfair.

I'll let others who know more about pubs offer their suggestions. The only one I know is The Victoria, which is very good, but there may be other options closer.

Try The Audley on the corner of Mount St & South Audley. It's just a very short walk from the GH.

+1 for The Audley. Depending on the weather, the sidewalk area is quite nice, and the pub, for Mayfair, also good.

Unfortunately, much of that general area has given over to the Hard Rock "experience," but good alternatives can be found.

I also like Ye Grapes, in Shepherd Market, just a few short blocks away - however it CAN be rather crowded.

For a bit of an "up-scale, semi-pub" atmosphere, and good food, we have dined at Gordon Ramsay's Maze, just up the way - not a traditional pub, but near-fine-dining, with a pub-like atmosphere.

So the other couples voted for Italian for the first night...any comments on : Da Corradi, Babbo, Piccolino Heddon Street or Cecconi's?

We will definitely go to the Audley for drinks, thanks.

Is the Guinea Grill just a steakhouse or do they serve burgers?
