Hi all. I did a search on "which area" and realized knowing more about the person asking the question helps.
My husband and I will visit London for the first time Sept. 2014. He is 66, I am 60 but we are extremely active and love to walk. We will be in London for one week. We would like to spend between $150-$300 U.S. per night. We like B&Bs or hotels that include breakfast. We only need the hotel for 2-3 nights as a friend has offered her apt for 5 nights. The apt is at 21 Eccelston Sq. Pimlico. So another area would be good for the hotel/B&B.
We would like to see the usual first timer sites; in addition our interests include history, archaeology, and theatre. We are not interested in shopping (well, maybe one day), nightclubs, or children's activities. Will want to see at least one play, and do a day trip to Stonehenge and possibly other archaeological sites. We've been to Buxton, England and Ireland twice. Paris twice and other parts of Europe but never London. We will not have a car.
So... we need to be near the sites of interest, and near the tube. We will arrive at Heathrow and will be taking the Eurostar to Paris after our week in London.
So which neighborhood, area, hotel, or B&Bs would you recommend? Thank you!
