There's a Premier Inn attached to the North Terminal. Also a Travelodge within walking distance and another Premier Inn a bit further away

If you feel like splashing out there's the Sofitel there as well

There's also a Best Western knocking about near to the Travelodge. All have shuttles to both North and South Termini so it wouldn't be too difficult to get to any of these hotels from Gatwick Airport train station which is actually linked up to South Terminal.

I always use the Courtyard Marriott if overnighting at Gatwick. Clean, good beds, walkable to South terminal although there is a shuttle bus service, and very well soundproofed. Did not hear a peep from other rooms or planes which can be a problem with airport hotels IME, with people arriving and departing at very odd hours.
