Is a cab always recommended to catch the early Eurostar?

Hello,

I'm always interested in the advice to catch the early Eurostar trains. It seems most advised a black cab. We, family of 3, planned to take the 6:00am Tuesday underground from Earls Court station (Piccadilly line) to St. Pancras for the 7:55am to Paris. We are just staying 1 night so our "luggage" will fit in our purse/bag, and we'll be back to London Wednesday night. Should we also consider a cab? I'm assuming it's only a 30 min. commute by underground. Thanks for your advice!

As long as the tube is running in time to get you to St. Pancras with 45 minutes to check in and get through security, then there's no reason to take a cab.

A black cab wouldn't necessarily be recommended. More likely to be a car service (mini cab) that could be pre-booked.

That should be ample time.

A cab or car service is usually needed for the first Paris departure at 5.40 as tubes don't start running until about 5.15am. Yours is in fact the fourth of the day and as Kenny says, you have time to catch the tube from Earls Court.
