From LHR to Hampton Inn on Waterloo Road

We are planning to arrive at London Heathrow Airport in May 2014 and we will stay in Hampton Inn on Waterloo Road. What would be the best way to get from the airport to the hotel other than using a taxi? We have two 27” wheeled luggage. Thanks!

If you are willing to walk, you may take the Underground. There are three Underground stations at LHR, one at T5, another at T4 and one serving T1 and T3. Depending on the airline with which you've booked, make your way to the nearest station and board a Piccadillly line train towards Cockfosters.

Alight at Green Park and take the escalator up to the ticket hall but *don't* go through the barriers. Instead turn around and take another escalator down to the Jubilee line platforms for a train towards Stratford. Alight at Waterloo for the walk to your hotel, which shouldn't take more than six to eight minutes.

Thank you so much! We will be using British Airways. Once at the Waterloo Station, is it easy to find a taxi to take us to the hotel? It is our first time to visit London and we will stay in London for 6 days. What are the must see places? I guess we are the "typical tourists". We would appreciate any suggestions.

The taxi rank is on the main station level. At the arriving tube platform follow the signs to the Waterloo Road exit, then take the escalator up to the main rail concourse and the taxi rank is very close by). - nationalrail.co.uk/SME/…

BUT, the Waterloo Road exit from the tube station is just a 3 minute walk to the Hampton Inn anyway. So you'd save a few pounds, and get there quicker by walking. - http://goo.gl/maps/BD5qH

Your BA flight will arrive at T5; if you've booked a codeshare that will be operated by AA then that flight will arrive at T3.

You won't need a taxi from Waterloo to the Hampton hotel, as the walk is about 200m from one to the other.

The 'must see' places are those that appeal most to you and your travelling companion. Leaf through a copy of the Eyewitness Guide to se what piques your interest and go from there. If you look to the right of the forums posts column you will see 'Top Questions About London'; in that list of questions you will see two traveller articles about two for one offer (for sightseeing) and Travelcards. Please read the articles and consider whether you would like to save pounds by using the offers (most of which will be renewed from the end of April).

You may buy the necessary seven day paper Travelcards at Waterloo's rail ticket office on the main concourse; to make the journey from LHR T5 to Waterloo you may use PAYG on Oyster or pay the cash single fare.

Buses will be a good option to the Underground to and from Waterloo. tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/…waterloo.pdf The Waterloo spider map misses out the stops nearest the Hampton hotel, though, which are stops S (announced as The Old Vic) for buses from the city centre and P (St George's Circus) for buses towards the city centre. tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/stge…
