Concert in Finsbury Park- where to stay?

Hi all

I am going to see Artic Monkeys in Finsbury Park on 23 May 14. Where is best stay-will be staying Fri and Sat nights. I don't particularly want to stay in Finsbury area itself but would like to know any good places on a budget in the surrounding areas? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I would look for something near Kings Cross which is on 2 direct tube lines to Finsbury Park. Many of the hotels immediately around Finsbury Park are used as overflow homeless hostels, so you should do a lot of research before booking anything in that area.

What's wrong with staying in Finsbury Park??

If you want to avoid it then, for convenience, the main tourist spots are still open to you as it's well connected with Victoria and Piccadilly lines - so Bloomsbury, Fitzrovia etc.

<<Every year thousands of families become homeless. The reasons for this include domestic violence, relationship breakdown, debt, fleeing from persecution, wars and oppression. Because there are many hotels, hostels and reception centres in the Finsbury Park area, families in housing need are placed in temporary accommodation here from all over London.>>

Not all the hotels are involved in this, but some are and it's probably not the most comfortable situation for a tourist to find themself in.

There is the Hilton and Jury's at the Angel, which is not far away. You can take the 19 or 4 bus direct to Finsbury Park. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants and Camden Passage market on Saturday morning.

There is also the Premier Inn Islington. But depending what you intend doing the rest of your time, Euston, Kings Cross, Bloomsbury and Holborn are all central with good links to FP.

(And for clarity, many of the hotels/b&bs, mainly along Seven Sisters Road and just to the south are used as emergency housing by local councils, so worth avoiding).

If you did want to stay in FP itself, there are a couple of nice b&b's on Crouch Hill (toward Crouch End) such as the Aber and the Mountview. In fact you can walk from these to the park along, the ahem, Parkland Walk.

it depends whether you're only looking for accommodation for the concert, or whether you intend to hit other general tourist sites in London ... if you're only going for the concert then the suggestion at #7 of staying on Crouch Hill is very sensible, this would enable you to approach the Park from the north side and avoid the queues and congestion ... but if you want to go to other places, then the suggestion of Kings Cross or Bloomsbury is probably better
