Hi All - My wife and I are headed to London this August for a couple of nights, as a stop over on our way to Prague, and eventually Spain. We were in London last summer, and found the Tube to be efficient, and would like to try and take the Tube instead of cabs or a car service (we did a van last summer as there was 6 of us).
We are flying into Heathrow Terminal 5 on BA, arriving from PHX at 1:30pm on a Wednesday. My guess is we will need to clear customs and then get our luggage. Based on the airport maps I saw, it looks like all of that happens on the ground floor of Terminal 5. Once we get our luggage, as we are entering the public part of the terminal, it looks like there is a place to buy our Tube tickets, before going downstairs to catch the train. Is that correct? We want an all day Travelcard, not just a one way ticket. Can I get this there? I know it is not good for the 2-4-1 deals, but I can use it the rest of the day. It appears the route I will take is the Piccadilly Line towards Cockfosters, getting off at Leicester Square. We are staying at the Premier Inn in Leicester Square. Did I miss anything?
We return back to Heathrow 48 days later on Friday, with a 4:30pm flight on BA going to Prague, which leaves out of Terminal 3. I am thinking we need to be on the 1:30pm train, which will put us at Heathrow just over 2 hours before our flight - is that enough time? It looks like I will again take the Piccadilly Line from Leicester Square but this time headed to Heathrow Terminal 5, exiting at Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3. Does this sound correct in that the train stops at Terminals 1,2,3 and then goes onto Terminal 5? I got this from the route planner, so I just wanted to check with someone that may have done this, that there is not a specific train designated to just stop at Terminals 1,2,3.
