Catching train after 6 nations game at Twickenham

We are going to the 6 nations at Twickenham but travelling from & returning to Newcastle on the same day. We are due to arrive at Kings Cross at 12.45 & were planning on travelling to Richmond station & getting the shuttle bus from there to the ground. Our concern is catching the train home at 9pm (this is the last train home). The game should finish about 6pm. Are we best making the same trip on the return or getting the train from Twickenham station or getting the shuttle to Hounslow & getting the tube all the way to KC?

If the game finishes at 6pm you should have plenty of time to get back to Kings Cross for 9pm.

Going via Hounslow is not a bad idea, as it is away from the where the main crowds are heading.

If you walk in a North Westerly direction from the stadium you come to Hounslow National Rail station, where you can get the train to Waterloo (or Vauxhall, where you can change for the tube to Kings Cross)

Continuing North from there, you will come to Hounslow Central tube, where you can catch the Piccadilly line all the way to Kings Cross.

If there is a shuttle service to Hounslow, by all means use it. (It is quite some time since I went to a 6 nations game at Twickenham. Actually it was the 5 nations then, which shows you how long ago it was.)
