Want to go to HP Warner's watford. Was told take faster train not milk run and allow about 45 min at watford before time of ticket.

So HP has 9:00. 9:30. 10:00 10:30....etc. would like early if possible but have to coordinate train times. I am in London at Westminster bridge area to start.......thanks for any help

Have you looked at www.nationalrail.co.uk ? Look for London Midland departures rather than travelling by Overground; the trip from London Euston to Watford Junction should take about 15 minutes. If your start point will be from the County Hall area south of Westminster Bridge you could take the Jubilee line from Westminster station to Green Park and change there to the Victoria line to Euston station.

Do you plan to travel to Watford Junction on a weekday or at the weekend?

Return fare for trips from Euston to Watford Junction with outbound travel before 0915 on a weekday is £16.20 for an Anytime return, but if you will have a zones 1 and 2 Travelcard and ask for a ticket from the boundary of zone 2, the return fare will be £11.50.

There are London Midland departures from Euston very frequently on weekday mornings. If you travel from Euston before 0930 on a Wednesday, be prepared for substantial crowds at the station. You may buy the rail ticket at any NR station before you travel if you wish to streamline things on the day.

Wirewiper's excellent traveller article on Harry Potter recommends that you book a 10.30am or later tour on a weekday, so that you can take advantage of the cheaper off peak fares indicated by TravellerPlus.

No need to book train tickets in advance...if that was what you were thinking.

The fast trains only take between 15 and 21 minutes so for example an 11.00am booking at the studio you should look to catch the 9.54 which gets to Watford Junction at 10.09. That would mean leaving your hotel around 9.30, at the very tail end of the rush hour.

I wouldn't even bother to try and co-ordinate train times on that route, as they run every 10-20 minutes. If you just turn up at Euston around 90 minutes before your timed entry to HP you will almost certainly make it.

However the recommendation to travel on the 09.24 train or later still stands as it is the first train on which you can get the cheaper off-peak fares and 'Groupsave' deals. You can come back by any train the same day.

Remember that you must buy tickets in advance for the Harry Potter/Warner Bros Studio Tour.
