Where to stay in London?

My husband and I will be in London between Oct. 24 and 27 primarily for the football game at Wembley. We want to see sites in the city on Oct. 25(Sat.). In what area should we get our hotel? We'll be arriving by the Eurostar.

I would suggest around Bloomsbury / Kings Cross areas as this is both handy for the Eurostar (arrive at St Pancras) and easy to get the tube to Wembley (Metropolitan line via Baker Street from Kings Cross St Pancras station). There are other areas that would also fit the bill though.

We bought our tickets a couple of months ago. Can't wait! We go to all their home games. We were thrilled when we discovered we would be over there in time to see the game!

Oh, so when you say 'football' you mean 'American football'... I (and everyone else from the UK on here probably) thought you meant actual football - what you across the pond will call 'soccer' :)

Be careful with the definition in the UK - 'football' means soccer, always. :)

Wonder what they will call the game when the Falcons and Lions play because it certainly isn't soccer!

Back to the matter of the hotel. Please let us know your budget in pounds - use www.xe.com or www.oanda.com to calculate the exchange rate. Let us know as well if you are looking for a room for two or if you will travel with other friends or family members. Will you leave London on Eurostar or fly from one of the capital's airports?

There will be only two of us. We would prefer to pay no more than 175 pounds. We will fly back to the states from London but do not have airline tickets yet.

Over in South Kensington, the Radisson Vanderbilt might fit the bill.
