Football in July - for a 10 year old boy

We are going to be in London 4-8 July 2014. My 10 year old son LOVES football/soccer. I know the season will be over by then, but is there a way for him to see a match or practice? We are going to tour the Chelsea stadium if we can't get to see a match, but I would rather him see players in action. He loves Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham; but we woulfd be willing to see anyone really. Thanks in advance for your help!

Doubt it. The World Cup is this year so everyone will be at that.

As the World Cup will still be on, there won't be any games or friendlies until the end of July

The World Cup Quarter Finals are on the 4th and 5th. Should England, by some miracle, reach that stage then the whole country will become football mad and big screens will be erected in some squares and open spaces to show the game. Even if they are not then there will still be some big screens up. Check nearer the time.

No live games at all - lower league teams will have just started pre season training. Wembley stadium (our national stadium) is also worth touring and Arsenal offer tours in addition to Chelsea.

Check the web sites of London clubs as they all play friendlies before the season starts but it may be a bit early for that.

Usually the start of the friendlies is mid July, but this year it will probably be later as said due to the World Cup. Some Football League and Non-League clubs might start playing some friendlies, but none of the big teams, who usually start off the friendlies with some sort of tour in Asia or America anyway.

If you look a bit nearer the time, some of the clubs run soccer schools over the school holidays. Early July may be a little early (most schools break up mid-July) but you never know
