Stay in London with kids

Hi,

We're flying into London in May and taking National Express to Victoria from Luton on Saturday night. We'll arrive around 7 PM and want to find some reasonable hotel closeby to fun stuff to do with the kids on Sunday... I found a reasonable priced hotel near Covent Garden (Is this easy to get to from Victoria ?) Also is there anything that you could recommend to do with the kids on Sunday which would be nice to do ? We've not been to London before and have a 10 year old and 7 year old... we're not Museum type persons but thought perhaps things happen in the park on Sunday ?!? Any inside help would be appreciated.

The Sunday late afternoon we'll be travelling to Windsor, what is the easiest station to get to for a journey to Windsor ?!?

Victoria to Covent Garden isn't a difficult journey by tube (one change) although Covent Garden station has some weekend closures at the moment and in any case is always busy. Please let us know the name of your hotel and we should be able to come up with a better route...maybe even one on a bus.

London has loads of parks and open spaces. The nearest to Covent Garden is possibly the adults only allowed in with kids Coram Fields but you might prefer the much larger Regents Park or Hyde Park.

There are two ways to get to Windsor. The quicker route involves going via Paddington with a change at Slough. The slower option goes from Waterloo and won't involve a change.

Thank you... I was looking at the Travelodge Covent Garden Hotel. This seemed a very good price for a family of 4.

Which station is closer to Covent Garden ? Waterloo or Paddington ?!?

Should be purchase the tickets to get to windsor in advance or can we just buy them the day itself ?!?

Many thanks.

You could get off the coach at Marble Arch (most National Express coaches stop there) and take the Central Line to Holborn from where your hotel (good price but basic hotel by the way) is just a 5 to 6 minute walk.

No savings to be had from by Windsor tickets in advance and not much difference in distance but bear in mind that Travelodge hotels will NOT look after your bags which means you will be carrying them around all day.

Sundays are really the worst time of the week to visit Windsor Castle, as St. George's Chapel will be closed to tourists and there will be no Changing of the Guard.

Luggage cannot be brought to Windsor Castle as there is no where to store it, in or around the Castle.
