Buy Advance train tickets first online, then buy Railcard?

Hello!

I wish to buy some advance train tickets from Virgin Train, travelling from London to Liverpool. However, I cannot buy the Railcard (which enable discount on train travel, even for advance ticket) yet as the Railcard cannot be sent to outside UK address. I can only buy it upon reaching London at a staffed rail station.

Is there any rules which forbid buying train tickets first, then get the Railcard in time for actual travel?

Many thanks in advance for the answer?

You get 1/3 on standard price tickets with a railcard, but much less than that, sometimes nothing on advance low price tickets.

Totally wrong. The discount is always 33% (subject to any minimum fare). Where does this misinformation come from?
