Difficult without knowing where you are staying or what type of food the children like but most children I have taken out like Italian, there are a number of chains in London e.g. Pizza Express and Prezzos that are fairly reliable, look on the web for vouchers which will keep the cost down. Most kids like Wagammamas which is a Japanese noodle chain, food is fresh and wholesome but not really an event place as you sit on long shared benches. Smollenskys in the Strand is another option.

Hi there :)

I'd recommend a place called "Belgo". It's Belgium themed with a wide range of great beers and has interesting decor. Specializes in mussels but they do things like chicken and sausages too.

It has a kids menu and also a "beat the clock" menu - if you eat there on Monday-Friday between 5pm and 6.30pm the price of your meal is the price you ordered at (so if you order at 6.05pm your dish will cost £6.05)

Since there's only 4 in the UK, you won't feel like you're going to a huge, characterless chain restaurant either.

There's also a branch in convent garden, so quite central and convenient.

Also - where do you know where you are staying? There's some lovely restaurants around but that might be a trek if you're not nearby.

I LOVE il Blandfords. It's just a little Italian cafe near to Regents park/baker street but does amazing food (best tirimisu ever) and very friendly service. Not open in the evening though so a lunch option only:

You will often find that lunch is a better deal than dinner and that lots of really central restaurants offer an early bird or pre theatre menu which would work well with children and is good value. You can find these on Top Table or Square Meal.
