Is 1 hour before flight enough at Gatwick Train Station?

I am flying from Gatwick South Terminal to Copenhagen, Denmark. My flight leaves at 12:50 and I have a train that arrives at Gatwick Airport Train Station at 11:47. I have no checked luggage, only my backpack that I'm taking on board. Do you think this ~1 hour between arrival at the train station and flight departure is enough? The previous train costs more than double than this one.

Many thanks for the answers.

I'd say its cutting it far too fine. Suppose there is a 30 minute queue at security?

Where are you coming from and what is the train cost you are seeing?

The station is located at the South Terminal and only takes a couple of minutes from train to departure gates. In theory, you should have time as long as the train arrives on time. If it's any more than 15 minutes late you will have a problem as they won't let you through security with less than 40 minutes before departure

I'm coming from Bristol Temple Meads, the later train is about 32 pounds (return), and the earlier is about 65 pounds.

No it is not enough time especially if your train arrives a bit late. It actually takes a bit of time to get from the platform to the security area if only because of everybody else with bags etc in theway doing the same thing.

You don't say where you are starting from but First Capital Connect (from London Bridge/St Pancras etc.) are £10 anytime so I can't see why you need to pay twice as much for an earlier train.

You might get away with it but I wouldn't recommend it.

What date are you looking at?

Doing a dummy run on FGW I can see fares of £62.80 for an 0800 train (via Reading) which is the one I'd advise or £42 for the 9am which is tight (arr 11.50) for the reasons stated.

Presumably you've bought flights already but Easyjet fly Bristol to Copenhagen.

How much would it cost to buy a new airline ticket on the day?

What consequence is it if you miss you flight - do you miss your wedding or just get home a bit later?

Once you think about those questions then you can decide if the extra £30 is worth it.

You could also look at national express coaches from Bristol to Gatwick.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I will take the earlier train, I'm not risking it.
