Trooping the colour

Have tickets from the public ballot to sit in the stands at Horse Guards Parade.

Two questions. Am I OK to wear smart trousers and blouse and my husband to wear smart trousers, shirt and tie with a casual sports jacket or does he need a formal suit?

We intend to take fold up rain jackets too in case weather not good.

Any other advice as to what time we should arrive and will we be able to see the fly past from Horse Guards Parade?

Thank you.

I was at last Saturdays rehearsal and there was a queue of people at about 9am . Remember that you will be going through security checks - bag check and possibly ''airport style'' walk through arches , although these were not evident on Saturday.

You will have probably left your seats and be walking about by the time of the fly past , and you would get a better view standing in the Mall and walking towards BP, depending how far you get just turn around at about 5 mins to 1 and look upwards and you'll see them all.

As to the fly past, this appears to have been taken at the Royal Horse Guards Parade last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiphg5b4tEc

Yes that's Okay, there will be a majority dressed up in summer wear and you'll see a lot of military uniforms, the guest list sat around you will include lords, ladies, sirs and dames and will include diplomats and visiting military attaches

don't forget the Queen will be there so some people will take that as a sign to dress up, Have a lovely day ballot tickets are very hard to come by so in that respect you're pretty lucky, as has been said the flypast comes down to Buckingham Palace above the Mall so if you get a click on it'll be right above you , Enjoy!
