London Travelcard questions

We are thinking of picking up a London travelcard when we arrive in London this month and are wondering if anyone else has used this card and thinks its worth it.

We will be traveling by bus, Tube, and aboveground train for the three days of our London stay. Here are the attractions we're planning to see:

- Westminster Abbey

- Tower of London

- St. Paul's Cathedral

- Hampton Court Palace

- Kew Gardens

We know we take an aboveground train to Hampton, and are wondering if anyone has been able to use the Travelcard for that destination.

Thank you for your help!!

A travelcard for zones 1-6 will cover just about all your travel in London.

If bought at a rail station it will give you 2 for 1 admissions to at least some of the attractions you will be visiting.

Don't know what your dates are, but Tower of London will go off-line around July 15 until September as far as the 2-4-1s are concerned.

No need to buy any London transport tickets before you arrive in London.

You can buy a Travelcard on-line, but it will be issued on Tfl stock, and will not be eligible for the 2-4-1 offers.

I thought I read in one of the forums that the system doesn't sell 3 day Travelcards anymore. Is that still the case? The one-day doesn't cover our travel needs and the 7day is way too much ...

How long are you here for? You can just buy one day travelcards for 3 days if you want.

Three days, yep. That could work. Now that I understand how these work, I'll have to do the calculations to see if its a better deal than pay-as-you-go Oysters. If we're only on the Tube for a few trips in those three days it probably won't pay to have full Travelcards.

Thanks to everyone for all your help this has been so useful!
