It's not a case of 'either/or' or 'versus', as you can have 7-day Travelcards loaded onto Oyster Cards. I presume your dilemma is whether to obtain an Oyster Card and use pay-as-you-go on it, or simply buy one-day paper travelcards.

To complicate matters, there are the 2FOR1 offers - these can only be obtained using travelcards purchased from a National Rail station. Paper travelcards from an Underground station are not valid, nor are Oyster Cards. Note that the 2FOR1 offers only apply where there are two or more travelling.
