Apartments

Hi, my family of four will be travelling to the UK next year. We are wanting to stay in London for 8 nights, and as it coincides with the Ashes, accommodation is very expensive. We are wanting to keep costs down, and try and secure an apartment where we can cook meals. Does anyone know of a trustworthy site, where we can book an apartment? I have looked at booking.com etc and they are all too expensive. Thanks Danielle.

Hi - I have used both of these companies to book serviced apartments in London. They are reputable and I didn't have any complaints. You should be able to find something within your budget.

I've used Marlin Apartments (MChiddy's second link) and can vouch that they're very good and reliable. They have a lot of major corporate clients (including my brother's company, which is how I got the reference). They're corporate client focus is on the financial sector, so their apartments are to the east (e.g. London Bridge, Aldgate, Limehouse, Canary Wharf). I stayed in their most central location, Queen Street near St. Paul's, but the others are still worth a look.

But, as per Trillian's post, please let us know your budget in pounds (£), and also your family setup (ages of children) which may well dictate how many rooms you'll need.

I haven't stayed at the following apartments but I came across them when looking for something similar when Olympics were on. Your budget is low for the summer season, you could also try the University's as they often have 2 bedroom apartments at reasonable rates.

I have stayed at an apartment booked through London Serviced Apartments (MChiddy's first link) and can vouch for their legitimacy. The apartment was in the Chelsea Cloisters building. Small but convenient, about a 10 minute walk from South Kensington station. This was 10 years ago so it would be worth checking out some more recent reviews.
