Restaurant choice near Le Meridien Piccadilly?

We are staying at Le Meridien Piccadilly in late March 07

Any recommendation on where to have dinner in the area?

We are looking to stay local as we will probably be tired that evening and will probably eat on the earlier side then later. We are traveling with a 12 and 10 year and want a casual place that we can get served at, not picking up sandwiches at pret manger, etc

We don't want to dine at the hotel

By the way , if it makes a difference the address of the hotel is 21 Piccadilly

Any suggestions?

There is a branch of Patisserie Valerie on Piccadilly, near-ish to Fortnum and Mason. There used to be a branch of the excellent Maison Blanc Vite on Piccadilly, but I think it's moved off the road into either the Princes' Arcade or Piccadilly Arcade.

The Wolseley would be a good, but slightly pricier option. If you wanted to wander along Shaftesbury Avenue to Soho, Kettners is part of the Pizza Express chain, but a bit smarter than the usual PE. There's also a branch of Strada on New Burlington Street.

If you like Japanese food there is the Japanese centre on the opposite side of the road from you.

There is also a Yo! Sushi on lower regent street.

Also, Fortnum and Masons itself is not bad for an early supper.

The name currently escapes me, but on the opposite side of the road, heading slightly away from Pic Circus is a great little italian place. It has a cafe downstairs and a restaurant upstairs. I've been there a few times and have always enjoyed it.

If you cross the road and go down lower regent street you've a few options for pizza with Pizza Express and Pizza Hutt, Pizza Express being the better by miles.
