Do you mean you are starting from Norwich? There would be much better options from one of the Broadland villages.

Which village do you recommend? Everything is an option but seems to be lots of options hence the request for recommendations, never done it before! Thanks for ANY advice

Potter Heigham - access to the quieter, more nature reserve ambience of the Broads at Hickling & Horsey.

Wroxham or Horning for a busier river atmosphere, with access to villages like Ranworth, Coltishall & Salhouse. Plus Cockshoot Broad & St Benets.

Ludham for narrower rivers & more laid back - How Hill, Wayford Bridge & Dilham

Stalham for access to Sutton & Barton Broad nature reserve.

Depends what floats your boat as they say!

Wroxham is the easiest starting point to get to from Norwich. It's about 15 mins by train (the station is called Hoveton & Wroxham, just to confuse you!) and from there you can walk to the boats. Barnes Brinkcraft are good, but book in advance as it gets busy in the summer.

Or Brundall, 10 mins by train from Norwich and the station is by the Boatyards.

I suggest you go to Potter Heigham, assuming you are driving. Its in the heart of the broads but not quite as busy and congested as Wroxham. you park in the big boat yard car park and go to the office. There you can hire a boat for the day or take a boat trip, whichever you prefer. Here's a leaflet with details. I think you might need to be fairly early to hire a boat in hight season or book ahead. Best to ring and ask them.
