I am in need of some assistance in trying to plan a route - so many wonderful things to see and only 6 days to do it in.
I will be leaving the lake district on Friday 4 May and have 6 days before I need to be back in Preston for an appointment on the Thursday morning. I will have a car with me.
I have spent in the past a great week in Whitby so I have explored the coast so this time I want to focus more inland.
My interests include history (castles, ruins, stately homes etc), landscapes and photography and easy walks.
I want to see (if possible):
- Ride on The steam railway that links Pickering and Whitby
- Fountains Abbey and the water gardens
- Visit York - I have never been as an adult
I probably want to stay 2 nights in an area and then move on though I am aware that there is a bank holiday on the Monday that may prove problematic. My budget is for less than a £100 a night for accommodation .
Apologies for the long post
Thank you hopefully for some good suggestions.
