See the Castle Museum ,walk the walls , take a boat trip down the Ouse. eat at the Blue Bicycle. You could always buy a book called the Snickleways of York and follow their path . This is a wonderful little book to carry about and explore parts you may otherwise miss and if you don't want to buy it maybe you could borrow it from your local library. Go to see the Minster when it is flood lit at night and take a lunch out-during the week they have a really good deal I saw in yesterday paper that runs from the end of August until nearly the end of Nov.- at Middlethorpe Hall

There is a delicious and charming tea shop on the second floor of the Mulberry Hall china shop on Stonegate. Even better than Betty's.

Don't know what sort of thing you like, but I wouldn't miss Fairfax House, the Minster (climb the tower and go down into the "basement") or Le Langhe (Peasholme Green - Italian deli/restaurant).

I'd also walk the walls and visit Castle Museum. And I would visit the Yorkshire Museum which has recently been refurbished.

York Races, check their site to see if there is a meeting on when you are visiting. Its a beautiful course and very central.

What ever you do, don't miss out on Evil Eye on Stonegate.

If the ice rink near Cliffords tower is up, don't miss that either.

The Golden Fleece is a kooky little pub next to the little shambles (make sure you walk through the shambles and little shambles!) it's supposedly haunted and is def worth a visit.

Bettys in St Helens Square is almost religion when visiting York.

If you like The Stone Roses, the Stone Roses bar is in york too.

If you're talking pubs then I would second that evil eye is a pretty unique experience and Pivo is a great bar too. To eat Cafe no. 8.

Thank you for your post. We enjoyed Mulberry Hall too and had a very pleasant lunch. September 2010.
