1 Night B&B/Guest House

Can anyone recommend cheap and cheerful accommodation for 1 night in November, preferably with car parking. Location ideally fairly central, although don't mind a 10-15 minute walk. Many thanks in advance :o)

Hello @BeanieBabe43

If you've exhausted the obvious options like Late Rooms, et cetera then you might want to consider Travelodge* because they are running Autumn promotions until the end of November.

Travelodge York Hull Road has parking

Travelodge York Central does not have parking, so you have to use something like Q-Park which is £12/day

Travelodge Central Micklegate does not have parking, but you can get a discount at the NCP.

Alternatively, try Air BnB (http://www.airbnb.com/) because there are a few, low cost hidden gems for York on there (depending on how many people are staying).

If you manage to find a cheap hotel and it doesn't have parking, consider Park At My House (parkatmyhouse.com) because you can get residential private parking for as little as £5/day within easy reach of the city centre.

* I should disclose that I used to do consultancy work for Travelodge, but I have no commercial relationship and no incentive to advertise their rooms; but I can say as a fellow consumer that they fit the "cheap and cheerful" bracket.

Many thanks Peter R I'm on the Travelodge mailing list so have already looked into these, good prices throughout the week but weekend rates double in price ie; similar to normal rate.

Ah, that's a shame.

If you have specific dates in mind, and number of people, I don't mind doing a quick bit of research - I'm always interested to see what rates are available because I'm looking for something for my wife and me in December, anyway.

We're wanting 1 double incl breakfast for the night of Saturday, 23rd November. We've got tickets to watch The Smiths Ltd at The Duchess. A lot of places will only take 2 night bookings, we can't stay 2 nights as have commitments on Friday, 22nd :o(

Best price so far is £110 at Park View Guest House for the one night

How about these on Air BnB? 23rd November, 1 night only, for 2 people, within walking distance of the city centre.

https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1131514 - £49

https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1193352 - £36

Many thanks Peter R for the groundwork.

First suggestion looked good, although I'd feel a little intrusive in someone's home as opposed to a B&B or Guesthouse. Also no full english on offer, this to me is part and parcel of staying overnight as we don't as a rule have this at home.

Going to try Travel Republic for their suggestions, and may possibly book the Park View as this seems to be the only place offering a one night stay :o)

i know you want a full English breakfast, but is it worth paying over 50 quid extra for it? the one located inside the walls https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1193352 is a fantastic location, plus there is a wetherspoons a few hundred yards away that does breakfasts, if you don't fancy there there's loads of cafes. plus your near the golden ball which is a fabulous pub http://www.goldenballyork.co.uk/

Thanks for the info Orbitalgirl know exactly where you're coming from, just got to try and work on the other half. Not one for going out to look for breakfast! In the meantime, I've come across the Ardmore Guest House, down Claremont Terrace (Gillygate) with relatively good reviews on TP. Any additional comments on the Ardmore would be most welcome. Many thanks for the fab feedback to date people :o)

Finally got our weekend organised booked direct for 2 nights with the Bronte Guesthouse - good reviews and piccies and on the same street of our previous Guest House Favourite - Minster View (which has sadly reverted back to a home) RESULT! :O)

P.S. Thanks for all the assistance peeps - I do believe they take one night stays also (dependant on availability) so one to bear in mind for all you last minute one nighters!
