York B&Bs

We are a mother and young adult daughter looking for a reasonably-priced homey B&B

in York for two nights with twin beds - or a king. (we are spending way over our budget in Edinburgh during the festival so hoping to save a little in York.) We'd like close to train and attractions and not to have to walk up too many flights with our luggage. Nice people and good breakfast would be lovely. Is AC possible too -- or not necessary?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Returned within the last week from a trip to York and stayed at Arnot House http://www.arnothouseyork.co.uk/, on Grovesnor Terrace, from where the Minster is about a ten minute level walk. Not really sure what you mean by 'homey' but suspect that this might fit that description. Definitely do good breakfasts. All bedrooms up at least one flight of stairs. They have a room with a bed that can be adapted to form two twin size beds (if pushed together, they become a super-king sized bed: king sized in the UK is 5' wide). AC provided by opening a window!

Defining what you mean by reasonably priced as everyone's definition is different. Also bear in mind it's peak holiday season so,prices are bound to be high. Check the youth hostel, it's a nice walk along the river from town and they do small rooms as well as dorms and the breakfast was great for the price!
