Does anyone have any recommendations where to stay in Nottingham. We're planning a trip from Australia end of 2012 for 3 weeks, family in Buxton and Leicester and thought this was mid way. If I'm way off, please let me know :-) Just wondering where's safe to stay. Travelling with husband and 11 year old daughter. Not familiar with area at all the and considering an apartment rather than hotel. Thanks for any help

Nottingham is a lovely city to visit especially Hockley & Lace Market area, with loads to do. Hotels in the city centre that are nice are: Mercure on George Street/Carlton Street and Lace Market Hotel. There are some serviced apartments in the area that are really nice too - try Cranbrook House - http://serviced-apartments-nottingham.com/

Hockley has a lot of independent shops, coffee bars, tea shops and bars - this is the area that adds personality to the city.

Hope you have fun.
