Italian restaurants

We are a group of females staying at the St James Hotel, Rutland Street for a weekend in October and would like to eat at a good/recommended Italian restaurant on the Friday evening. Can anyone recommend somewhere preferably close to the St James? Many thanks in anticipation.

1. Re: Italian restaurants

We have several Italian restaurants in Nottingham city centre.

My choice for you is Carluccios which is on Low Pavement but either side of it is Jamie's Italian and Prezzo. Just up the road is Piccolino on Weekday Cross.

You can't go wrong with any of these restaurants but my order of preference is

Carluccios

Piccolino

Jamie's Italian

Prezzo.

All of these restaurants are no more than a 15 minute walk from your hotel.

Hope that helps.

I think Bev has pretty much nailed it. We are well represented in Indian restaurants but our choice of italians is much smaller

Many thanks Bev for your prompt response, and to stutheobald, for confirming your choices. Will have a look at your suggestions and get one booked. Your help much appreciated.

If you were looking for an independent place instead of a chain, my choice for an Italian meal is more likely to be Amore's, which is in Beeston. You can get the bus or train there and walk up from the train station or down from the bus station, about a 5-10 minute walk from either.

Off the top of my head I can't think of anything similar in the city centre, apart from the chains that have already been mentioned.

Bellia Italia, Forman St, near the Theatre Royal. Yes, it's a chain, but we've had some good meals there.

Thank you post 4 and 5. However as we needed to ensure we had a table together we booked in the city centre a couple of weeks ago. Beeston is too far out of the city centre for a group of ladies to travel by public transport.

If this is still of interest go to The Pelican Club in the Lace Market, an independent Italian rather than a chain and later it turns in to a cocktail and jazz bar.

As a group you would be more than looked after @ the family run Reno's on Alfreton Road short stroll from the Rutland or three quid taxi. Pelican Club excellent shout if your a bit flush.
