Real Ale / Beer Shop in Oxfordshire

As a beer lover and a beer blogger testing new beers are allways a part of any journey. Good beer gets even better in a decent pub, but I also want to take a bottle or ten home with me. This brings me to the question:

Can anyone recomend a god shop for bottled beer (Real Ale) in Oxfordshire?

Oxfordshire is, by British standards, a very large county. Recommending a shop in Banbury to someone staying in Watlington really doesn't make a lot of sense.

So some near universal recommendations.

1. Just about every Co-op store. Oxfordshire has two major real ale breweries, Hook Norton and the Wychwood Brewery in Witney, which apart from its own beers brews Brakespear and the Duchy Original beers. Practically every Oxfordshire Co-op over about 3000 ft.² sells a wide range of both these breweries' products. Most also sell a reasonable range of other real beers from central England. So do most Waitrose branches in the region

2. Though most real ale pubs sell most of their beer on draught, they do also sell a small range of bottled

I would thoroughly recommend a trip to the Wychwood brewery, after doing the tour you get to try some of the beers and decide which (if any) you want to buy in the brewery shop. I think I still have a couple of Brakspear Triples under the stairs somewhere - lovely beer which improves with age. http://www.wychwood-shop.co.uk/brewery-store/

Off course I hav CAMRAS Pub Guide on my iPad. But it's hard to take the pints from the pubs back to Norway ;-) but if the ar off licenced that could be a possibility.

Breweries are interesting, but it takes time and this is a family vacation.

Major brands are allways easy to find, but for a beer nut the smaller brands are more interesting.

The breweries I mentioned are all tiny and have shops where you can do free tastings. No need to drag your family round for a talk on different types of hop.
