Nice pub/restaurant near the river?

Coming to Oxford this weekend and I was wondering whether anyone knew of a nice pub/restaurant near the river, but where the prices won't break the bank. Not bothered if we have to drive out of Oxford to get there though.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Or The Trout, although very popular when it is sunny. (mid range)

Or Victoria Arms, nice pub that serves decent pub food. (affordable)

Cherwell Boat House: (perhaps a little more expensive)

Oxford was founded in an upland area between the Thames and Cherwell rivers so very little of the old city is alongside the river. In the centre there is The Folly Bridge or The Head of the River down St Aldates/Abingdon Road and The Punter on Osney Island, otherwise you'll need to drive out.

All of the above are great suggestions. You can find links, contact phone numbers and addresses here: www.oxfordcityguide.com/ee2/index.php…

The Perch is gorgeous, but you don't actually see the water unless you walk through a path. Same with The Fishes in Hinksey. The Trout is ideal, as is The Folly Bridge Inn (or No. 1 Folly Bridge across the way). Cherwell Boathouse is lovely, but expensive.

Hi there,I would recommend The Head of the River pub in Oxford. We always visit it when we go to Oxford and it's in a luvly location.Right on the river and near to where the punts are if u fancy a go on them or walk over the bridge and go on a boat trip.Nice walks along the riverside also.

Food prices are OK.Not dirt cheap, but not outrageously dear either. You can just have nibbles (olives, chips etc) or go for a full out meal.Choice is yours.Drink prices not to bad either.

Hav a g8t weekend in Oxford. It's a beautiflul place and with the weather we are expecting this weekend, you're sure to hav a fab time.....

Sorry I am a bit late but would also recommend the Trout in Wolvercote - lovely setting and not bad food either

Might be too late, but if none of the excellent previous suggestions work for you and you did want to drive out of Oxford a bit try the black prince in Woodstock, park round the back, log fires on colds days, mid to low price range, pub grub. Blenheim palace back entrance right opposite, free if you go in this way for a gorgeous walk after or before food.
