What part of town to stay?

We will be visiting Oxford next July while my husband completes some work there for a fellowship. Any suggestions for what part of town to stay in? I am not sure of the college where his work will be but people have stayed near St. Catherine's college in the past for this program.

Oxford is not a big city. For St Catz, you could happily be located in North Oxford, or in Marston or Headington or Cowley Road and be within 20 minutes cycle of the College (which isn't on any bus routes, btw, and driving in Oxford is a nightmare, so bicycles are recommended).

Why don't you find out for sure where he's going to be based then come back and ask again? Are you looking to stay in a hotel, a B&B, a rental flat? What is your budget?
