Best Indian in Town please

Hello All,

Will be in Sheffield this weekend staying at Premier Inn Angel Street and we are looking for a good Indian restaurant for Saturday night that is walking distance from our hotel. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Can't recommend any, but in case you don't get any better suggestions, I have found this website that might help you. It also has restaurant reviews. At the least it will give you some 'names' so that you can also look at the TA reviews too:

Look on the Sheffield Star's website under lifestyle, food and drink. Martin Dawes, the reviewer, is very reliable.

The Best is Nirmals, Glossop Road. The Homemade Pickles for Starters, are to Die For !. That,s Before you Order Your Main Meal. The Hostess & Owner is Very Good too. Makes it Her Business to Visit Every Table. Enjoy.

My personal favourite is Saffron Club - gorgeous food, professional service and interesting menu, not the usual Chicken Korma/Chicken Dhansak/Chicken Madras etc. Like Nirmal's, it's half an hour's walk from your hotel, or ten minutes and three stops West on the tram, so you could have a look at both.

Five minutes' walk north west of your hotel is The 7 Spices. This is decent, although not quite as good - but importantly it's then only another five minutes walk north to get to the Kelham Island Tavern, the CAMRA national pub of the year 2008 and 2009, plus its legendary sister pub The Fat Cat.

Shapla on Fitzwilliam street is the oldest Indian restaraunt in Sheffield and one of the best. In the city centre, Moorfoot, easy to find, lovely food and great service. You don't stay in business over 30 years if you are rubbish!
