Went to Bath a few weeks ago.

Try Loch Fyne in Milsom Street - well worth a visit!

Hi

Good news! You should find most restaurants/gastropubs will have a couple of fish options on the menu, but there are a couple of places that specialise in fish:

Loch Fyne - as above - this is the chain, so you might have already tried the ones in Scotland. The website often has a couple of sepcial offer vouchers on it, by the way. Bath's Loch Fyne is in a converted banking hall at the top of Milsom St (main shopping street). I like their seafood platters and the rest of the food has always been reasonably good. Not a particularly romantic venue, but the staff are usually pretty good, but not overly attentive.

Fishworks - Green St - just off Milsom St. This is the restaurant that launched the chain that grew too large...went off the boil a bit...and got into difficulties. Well they are back down to 4 restaurants and a new owner. Hopefully it has regained some of its original innovative cooking. I really ought to give the place another try.

OneFishtwofish - North Parade - just a few minutes from the Abbey. This cellar restaurant has had rave reviews in the past, but I've still not eaten there. I walk past the chalked up menu most days and it is looking tempting. I'm sure Allvox can give you a detailed low-down.

Other non-fish places where they know how to cook fish are:

Garricks Head (by Theatre Royal) - not very atmospheric, has been pretty empty the last few times I ate there.

White Hart in Widcombe - this is my local. It's nice to eat in the courtyard garden if the chainsmokers aren't out in full force!

Vitos (Puglian restaurant) with entrances on Argyle St and down on Spring Gardens by Pulteney Weir have some interesting fish/seafood options in their menus if you want to try something different.

September is usually a nice month to visit (I think we might have run out of rain by then!).

Loch Fyne is a chain, with all the plusses and minusses that brings. OneFishTwoFish is something out of the ordinary (they also do a d*mn good steak), but cheap it ain't.

Suggest looking at the menu (it's very central, 300 yards from the Abbey) when you arrive and then decide - probably best to book if you decide to go there.

Have eaten at Loch Fyne in Bath (during the Xmas market - chaos!) and found it pretty good food and service and value for money - I would recommend it.

Have a group of friends who eat out regularly in Bath. Asked them just this weekend what their top restaurant recommendation in Bath was and they all agreed OneFishTwoFish.(out of all the restaurants not just fishy ones) Have only eaten there once myself over a year ago so I can't comment personally.

Yes of course I'm going to recommend 'ONEFISH' to you! However, the fish option at 'THE CIRCUS' in Brock St is always good.
