Getting around in Bath?

We plan on taking a train from London to Bath for a day trip. Can you easily get to the different sites on foot? I prefer not to have to do an arranged tour. Thanks!

I'd say definitely yes. Bath has some hilly bits but unless you have medical issues that make you short of breath on exertion then you should be fine. Bath is a wonderful city to explore on foot, there's so much to see that if you were in a car you would probably miss things.

Thanks for the quick response. We're in good shape, so shouldn't be an issue.

Bath does have some hilly bits - but none that you are likely to visit on a day trip.

Try and get there as early as possible, and go to the Roman Baths first - it can get busy. Get the audio guide.

If you are in to clothes, you can buy a combined ticket for the Roman Baths and the Museum of Costume, which is housed in the basement of the Assembly Rooms (I'm a bloke, but even I enjoyed it).

The Assembly Rooms themselves are free to enter, and there are guided tours (at least there were !).
