Itinerary for Bath/Cornwall/Devon

We are planning a trip to UK in August. We have seven days to spend in this area.

Our plans include three nights in Bath. We also want to visit: Wells, Port Issac, "Downton Abbey," then on to Heathrow.

Any suggestions to add to this schedule?

Port Isaac is a good journey from Bath/Wells (over two hours on a good day) and I would suggest in a limit of seven days and wanting three days in Bath you'll be better off staying around Bath/Somerset. You can have a day around Wells and see Glastonbury and Chedder another day before a day in Bristol and then to Berkshire to see Highclere Castle, perhaps. Cornwall would be a bridge too far to fit in your limited time without spending your whole holiday driving.

I agree you are trying to fit far too much in to actually enjoy seeing anything.

Cornwall is beautiful but It's a long way to travel and in August it will be very crowded with both people and cars. If you want somewhere just as lovely, possibly more so, with a very dramatic coastline, green valleys, open moorland, medieval villages and a heritage steam railway, much more 'real England' and with half the travelling, go to Somerset/Exmoor. check out the websites

Hi there

Your hit list is spread over a very broad area on England, way too much for a week's stay especially when two/three full days of that is already taken up for Bath. I suspect that you are Doc Martin fans, nothing wrong with that but it's a huge waste of time, effort and cost to go all the way to Port Isaac to take a couple of photos of a house when Cornwall has so much more to offer. So, I'd opt for one area or the other, either scrap Port Isaac and spend the time in Somerset/Bath and call in at "Downton" on the way back to London, or scrap all that and spend the time in Cornwall and at least have a chance to do the place some justice.

Just a polite question, your post is titled "Bath/Cornwall/Devon" but there's nowhere in Devon on your list??

You have been given good advice. The roads will be very busy in August - summer school holidays.

The Cornish coast is lovely but can't be fitted in with your other places.

With regards to Somerset/Exmoor you are looking at places like this
