good bars for over 30s

Hi. There is a group of us ladies visiting Bath and want to avoid student bars/clubs. Want somewhere lively with a good atmosphere, good tunes (not cheesey). Maybe a cocktail too! Any recommendations? :)

The following are probably worth a try. Both are large, lively and very nice up market bars (not clubs) where you won't feel like you have wandered into the set of either the inbetweeners or last of the summer wine. They also have outside areas if the sun shines

- Graze - near the railway station

- Hall and Woodhouse - near Queens Square

There are also lots of slightly smaller places which are divided up into different levels with a slightly different vibe in each space. You might want to try these:

- The Porter (George Street)

- The Huntsman

- The Boater (Argylle Street ) just off Pulteney Bridge

Have fun ladies!

When are you coming ? students won't be back for another 3-4 weeks.

The Canary Gin Bar is too pricey for the pimply herberts, who tend to keep away from cocktail bars generally because of the prices - unless a place is doing offers. Search for 'cocktail' in the forum.

Thanks guys - we'll be in Bath the weekend of 12th. 40th Birthday celebration so looking for atmosphere, good music, good cocktails. (nothing cheesey or chavey!)

All recommendations appreciated as want to make the most of the weekend with a group of friends I don't get to see very often

The centre of Bath is actually quite small, 10 minutes from one end to the other. There is a new place called Turtle Bay which I am told by those in the know is good for cocktails etc.

There is a fantastic burlesque show on the 13th in Bath if that's your sort of thing. Hosted at The Chapel Arts Centre;-http://www.chapelarts.org/index.php?main_page=product_ticket_info&cPath=44&products_id=524

Turtle Bay cocktails are pretty good and the music is great. They do 2 4 1 from 5-7 and later after 10 pm i think. The Passion fruit punch is lovely:)

Not forgetting the British Beard and Moustache Championships at the Pavilion. This will be one of Bath's Cultural Highlights of the Year: probably.
