Norwich is over twice the distance away than Bury (as it is always known locally) So I'd head to Bury . It has a newish shopping centre which opens on Sundays.

It's an attractive place too, especially the old centre, and down to the Angel Hill and Abbey Gardens.

Bury St Edmunds is sweet and well worth a visit, but for shopping head to Norwich. Its a straight run from Thetford and you can either park in chapelfield shopping centre which is that side of the city or park n ride at Thickthorn which is on the A11.

Norwich is one of the top 10 places to shop in the UK, don't miss it.

Even if you don't shop in Bury (St.Edmunds), you really should try to visit there for at least a couple of hours. The cathedral is magnificent and if it's a nice day, it is very pleasant to walk through the gardens and ruins of the old abbey. There are some very fine buildings in the old part of town.

Norwich is by far better for shopping.

Bury is nice for shopping but no where near as nice as Norwich

Ipswich is not as good for shopping, hardly any independent shops, and the high street has been hit hard by nationals closing.
