Nice places for breakfast?

Can anyone recommend some nice places for breakfast in Stratford, in or near the town centre as our apartment is a 10 min walk from the centre (near the Maybird retail outlet)?

Also looking for a nice pre-theatre dinner for one night and an evening meal out the second night, have looked at Lamb's, Oppo, Malbec, Sorrento and Vintner, are there any others worth considering?

Many thanks :)

I hear that our newest restaurant, Bernadette's is very good for breakfast. www.bernadettesrestaurant.co.uk

For your dining list, I would recommend adding The One Elm (www.onelemstratford.co.uk), Bernadette's, and, out of town, The Baraset Barn (www.barasetbarn.co.uk).

The Oppo, The Vintner and Lambs are all part of the same group.

Hi

Just thought I'd say we went to Bernadette's this morning and it was atrocious. It was empty when we arrived so that should have tipped us off really! Waitress was sweet but very poorly trained and couldn't answer any questions about the menu. Asked for poached eggs and toast with beans, beans never came. Another person had soft boiled eggs and soldiers, one egg was partially runny, partially hard, the other was rock hard. Toast was dry and when we asked for butter, we were told they didn't have any! Manager seemed very arrogant and useless, asked him for some black pepper and instead of bringing it over, he went and told the waitress to get it. Had to ask for the bill after having sat for ages once finished, while he had a personal conversation with the waitress. Asked for the 'soft' boiled eggs to be removed from the bill, waitress had to get the manager to do it, he walked straight past us without even apologising/ackonwledging it and then sent the waitress over to give us the new bill, with not a word from him. If they keep up with that kind of attitude, they won't last long.

Sorry you had a bad experience - thanks for taking the time to give feedback. Funnily enough I heard a similar tale from a local yesterday, so you're not alone.

Keeping up standards of service after the initial "honeymoon" seems to be the problem for many newly-opened enterprises.

We would like to acknowledge your post regarding the recent visit to Bernadettes and the poor service you received. Please be assured that the member of staff in question is being addressed accordingly, as we strive to create a high quality dining experience in pleasant surroundings, and are therefore extremely disappointed to learn of this experience.

We would ask that, should you visit Stratford again in the near future, you give us the opportunity to rectify the situation as we do very much care about customer perception.

Kind regards, Bernadettes Management
