Birthday venue

I am planning a birthday party for my friends 21st and was wondering where the best venue is in/around Birmingham city centre.

Preferably a late bar and can hold around 200-250 guests, maybe a function room or a club I have no idea where to look.

You could look at one of the function rooms at The Irish Centre Birmingham. The Ulster suite has a capacity of 250 and the Munster suite a capacity of 100. I looked up there number and it's 622 2314.

I have no idea what this venue is like though not having been to the place for a very very long time.

I can't think of anywhere else but there must be others.

The Irish Centre in Digbeth was refurbished a couple of years ago and might be a good choice for you. Their catering has been good on the couple of occasions I have been there recently - certainly worth making enquiries... good luck

It may be worth phoning the Birmingham Tourist Information centre to see what they suggest, or even the Birmingham Conference Centre as it is such a large event.

Here is a Birmingham "Find a venue" web site

Before you start this, you really should have an idea of budget. A room that large is unlikely to be free and you could end up paying a lot of money. Even if a Venue offers free room (unlikely) they may insist on a minimum spend.

Most of the hotels in the city centre will be able to host a party of this size – but they will charge a lot of money and probably insist on doing catering etc at hotel rates (so again, you need to know your budget before you start). Try Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Jury’s Inn and Chamberlain Park Hotel etc.

Some pubs have function rooms – The Rose Villa Tavern which is lovely and in Jewellery Quarter is opening its function room soon. http://www.therosevillatavern.co.uk

The custard Factory has spaces available for hire - custardfactoryspaces.co.uk/… I have been to a party at The Old Library there and it was done extremely well.

Some places may allow exclusive use rather than renting a room – try The Drop Forge (again in Jewellery Quarter) which is a fantastic venue. http://www.thedropforge.co.uk - I am orgainsing a smaller party at the moment and Dan at The Drop Forge has been wonderful.

Second City Suite is a conferencing and wedding venue centre - www.secondcitysuite.co.uk/site/index.html

Good luck.

Nicolle – I forgot to add – Stirling’s Bar – very nice venue in great location which may be available http://www.stirlingsbar.co.uk and also Bluu http://bluu.co.uk which is more of a nightclub so will be well set up for a 21st party.

Just re-read my post – I should also have suggested local hotels in the suburbs – if you are in south Birmingham then there is the Westley Arms Hotel in Acocks Green but also a number of hotels/pubs in Solihull you could look at.
