where to eat on a Friday evening

We are a group of 15 ladies from various parts of the UK staying in Birmingham for a weekend. Our Saturday evening meal is already sorted but wondered if anyone has suggestions of where we could eat on a Friday around 7 pm. Somewhere near the Holiday Inn would be great as some of us are staying there. Many thanks in appreciation of some replies/suggestions.

Which Holiday Inn, there are a couple in the city centre?

If it is the one in Smallbrook Queensway then the nearest places to eat are as follows.

The Arcadian complex, right opposite the Hippodrome hotel. Only 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The Mailbox complex, about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. At the "back" of the Mailbox is a load of bars and restaurants right on the canal side and quite a lively interesting place in the evening.

Also about a 10 minutes walk (or slightly more) is Brindley Place, again with many bars and restaurants.

This is near Broad St which is one of the main "night scene" places in Birmingham.

Of the 4 I would say the back of the Mailbox is the best as this gives you quite a choice of places to have a drink and a bite to eat.

Here is a photo of the back of the mailbox that may whet your appetite.

We had a bit of a gathering at the arcadian complex recently and booked a large table at Las Iguanas. we had a fab time starting off with happy hour cocktails and followed by some great food and service. Its a really friendly laid back spot. I'm a huge fan! Some other decent eateries and cocktail bars at the centre too.

I made a slight typo in my append above. I put:

>>>The Arcadian complex, right opposite the Hippodrome hotel.

Should of course be Hippodrome THEATRE.
