Manchester to Rawdon

Hi hoping anyone has any tips for me, we are travelling from Australia to Rawdon West Yorkshire and flying into Manchester Int Airport, just wondering what is the best way to get there? We have two young children and am wanting to know the most cost effiecient and direct way to travel there? Thanks in advance :)

Direct train MIA to Leeds then bus, local train ( to Horsfort) then another bus or taxi to Rawdon. With young children I'd cut my losses and take taxi from Leeds

Rawdon is actually part of Leeds and is next door to Leeds Bradford Airport so if you haven't booked tickets yet you might want to reconsider your routing.

But if you are fixed to Manchester Airport then train to Leeds then 33A bus would get you there.

Book several weeks in advance to get the cheapest fares - fortunately on this route if you are late they will let you travel on a later train if you are delayed so you can get the cheapest tickets

Hi Sarah,

As the others have suggested going by train would be the the fastest way.

A cost effective way would be travelling by coach. [see below]

OPTION 1.

A. You can get a caoch from Manchester Airport to Leeds Bradford Airport

http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

B. Rawdon is about 3miles (5-10mins) from Leeds and Bradford Airport. So you can get the bus 757 from the airport into Rawdon (see below).

OR

OPTION 2.

A. You can get a caoch from Manchester Airport to Leeds Bradford Airport

http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

B. Dedicated taxi service immediately outside the airport which will take you to your destination.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Xplorer!

There are no direct coaches to LBA from MAN. However the coaches do link into the airport bus services (747 from Bradford, 757 from Leeds) which would allow you to get off in Rawdon without having to go to LBA first. It is more cost effective if you buy tickets on arrival but it's a similar cost to booking a train in advance - and a lot slower

But why not take the train all the way from Manchester Airport to Guiseley?

Guiseley is only 2.3 miles from Rawdon and it's just one change of train in Leeds.

Private hire from Guiseley to Rawdon would be about three quid or you could thumb it for a lift down the A65.

Hi,

There are regular coach services from Manchester Airport to Bradford, you are then only 6 miles from Rawdon. A private hire taxi from Bradford to Rawdon for 4, wouldn't cost much more than public transport and it would save you travelling to Leeds.

Good luck!

Don't pick up one of the cabs outside of Bradford Interchange(coach/train station).they're much more expensive.

Take a private hire as suggested..

Douglas Cabs are efficient ,reliable and cheaper..just ring them when you are 5 minutes away from Bradford and they will be waiting for you..

Their number: 01274 735871

Have a great time..

I've just had a quote from www.airporttaxis-uk.co.uk for a similar journey, very competitive rates and a variety of vehicle options. Door to door service, after a long flight from Oz sure you will want to get to destination without too much hassle.
