Traveling from Dublin to London

We would like to take a ferry from Dublin to Holyhead on a Sunday or Monday in early July and end up in Bath on Tuesday. We would like to see a bit of Wales along the way. Driving would be fine, or by train.

Or, we could go from Wexford to Pembroke if that would work better.

Any suggestions of how to pull this off and maybe stay in a cool place along the way? This will be a Mom, Dad and two teenage boys.

Or book the trains in one go on www.eastcoast.co.uk

HOWEVER you can book SailRail from Ireland to a station in the UK using http://www.stenaline.ie/ferry/ - pick "sailrail" in the "type of journey" option

You could take a train or coach from Dublin to Rosslare, then the ferry to Fishguard(http://www.stenaline.nl/en/ferry/crossing/) or to Pembroke Dock ( www.irishferries.co.uk), then train through Carmarthen,Swansea,Cardiff to Bristol, then bus to Bath, suggest staying overnight in Cardiff as there is lots to do and keep the teenagers busy.

Stena or Irish Ferries might be your best sites to look at. There has been a lot of enquirys with the current situation and no one flying. these links might also help.

The problem with taking the train from north Wales to London is that once you get to Wrexham you see little of Wales after that as you follow the border route - pretty and scenic but not Wales!

If you wish to drive from north Wales to Bath, have a look at the post I have just made on the "Llandudno" forum about a choice of driving routes. Both routes will give you a wonderful view of Wales:

If you want more information about these driving routes and things to do and see get in touch.
