If you are coming from Liverpool then spend the time in the north. You could do it all, but why bother when there is enough in either north or south for six days.

Just to give you some sense of the small scale of our country, you can do north to south in around 4 hours via the A470 road. It's the main artery through the country and will give you a good reference point to branch out from and provide you with some great scenery alond the way as it passes through several national parks.

If that's not your thing then I can recommend you take your time and follow the coast roads for the views and coming inland slightly, stopping of at places like Llandudno, Conwy, The Llyn Peninsula, Snowdonia, Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, St.Davids, Solva, Tenby, Gower Peninsula, Swansea and ending up in Cardiff.

Your never more than a short drive from mountains or the coast here with some great little towns & villages tucked away inland. There's some great surfing to be had from St. Davids right along to Porthcawl in the south, the north has some good spots on Anglesy and the Llyn Peninsula.

In the north you should try out the new 100mph zipwire centre over a huge disused quarry at Bethesda www.zipworld.co.uk , in the south you should definately visit Big Pit mining museum at Blaenavon www.museumwales.ac.uk/bigpit. The latter takes you underground on a tour of a genuine disused coalmine and gives you a real insight into the industrial and social heritage of the area. Your guided by real miners, in a real mine and the best thing is - it's free!
