We are travelling to Wales at the end of June and intend to spend a week there, with two children aged 6 and 9. First we plan to stay in Pembrokeshire for 3 nights and then for 4 nights in Caernarfon, exploring Snowdonia and the north. Also, I'm a bit worried about getting from Pembrokeshire to Caernarfon, the only way by public transport seems by bus, which takes the whole day. Have considered renting a car but it is expensive to drop it off somewhere else than at the pick-up place (as we will be travelling to London from Bangor or thereabouts at the end of the week's stay). Is it viable to stay in these two places and rely on public transport, or would renting a car be necessary? Also, I would be grateful for suggestions on activities in these two areas that appeal to children at this age.
