The Farmer's Arms

I was very happy to find accommodation at The Farmer's Arms in Abergavenny. The TA page says there is council run car park nearby, just wondering what that might cost us to park our rental car for two nights, if anyone has an idea?

Confused me for a moment - that pub was called the Market Tafarn for a while but has now re-opened under its traditional name after refurbishment. As the names suggest, it's right on top of the busy cattle market.

There's plenty of free on-street parking in Abergavenny although the unrestricted slots near the central area fill fast in the morning, especially on market days (Tuesdays) and there are limits on how long you can stay during the day in the areas around the market . The pay-for car parks in the immediate vicinity of Lion Street are limited to 4 hours during 0900-1700 (£1.80 for that maximum) but you can park in them overnight (1700-0900) and on Sundays without charge. Except on market day, there are usually plenty of spaces.

Even on market day, if you arrive during the afternoon or evening, you'll have no problem - the crowds will be gone. At worst you would have to pay a pound or so for the last hour or two until 1700 after which it will be free.

If you want to leave the car for more than a few hours during the day, but can't find on-street parking, there's a car park by the river (Byefield Lane) that is free and unrestricted except on market day, although it's a bit of a walk from the market area.
