Help us finish off plans for 4 days in North Wales

Hi my husband and I will celebrate our 30 anniversary in England, including 4 days in North Wales. We'll take the train to Conwy (Oct 4) and have a car booked. First two nights are at the Sygun Fawr near Beddgelert- next two nights aren't booked. We're thinking of taking a rail trip up Snowdonia (or Ffestiniog Railway), checking out Conwy & Harlech castles. Now we have to decide what to do the remaining time- so much to decide from! We'd like a great sea-side walk, a few hours in a village with half-timber houses and a good pub, maybe a mine tour. Any suggestions?

Three places come to mind for your requirements.

1. Beaumaris on the Island of Anglesey with castle, by the sea with walks along the Coastal Path.

2. Conwy lovely medieval town with castle, by the sea and easy access to the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno for slates mines.

3. Criccieth with castle, by the sea and on the timeless Llyn Peninsula with Abersoch, Morfa Nefyn (great walk along the beach to the Ty Coch pub) and Aberdaron.

Not sure when you are here, but a must do in the Conwy Valley is Ty Hunt ir Bont - National Trust Tea Room cottage on the banks of the river Conwy at Llanwrst - great for lunch & afternoon tea. For dinner you must try The Groes Inn a few miles out of Conwy in the valley! The first licensed pub in Wales. Charming olde worlde and stunning views + good food & beer! Also in Llandudno, lots of accommodation to choose from and you could also go to The Queens Head at Glynwyddan - just outside Llandudno. Great pub, modern but village feel and nice food & drink. We used VIP Travel Services who are very reliable and they also do nice tours and take you off the beaten track. So if you want a day off from driving, like we did, they take you to places you'd never find. They also feature a superb evening country drive visiting lovely country village pubs in the Conwy Valley!
