Our cruise ship will stop at Liverpool for one day, and there are two options for seeing Northern Wales from there, both in about 8 hours, Option 1 is a cruise ship excursion -- along the North Wales coastline to Conwy Castle (spend 1 hour at site), then free time in Conwy Town (0.75 hrs), and then travel to Betwys-Y-Coed (2 hours there for lunch and sightseeing). Option 2 is with a private bus tour that travels along A55 to Conwy (spend 1.75 hrs for castle, town, and lunch), travels along "selected routes" and makes an extended sightseeing stop at a "spectacular location" in Snowdonia National Park, then travels to and spends 0.5 hrs in Betwys-Y-Coed, and lastly there is a whistle-stop tour of Chester.
Everyone says Snowdonia is beautiful and so Option 2 (private bus tour) seems attractive, but the itinerary seems very rushed, correct? On the other hand, Betwys is in Snowdonia so wouldn't we be seeing the Park along the way in Option 1 (ship's excursion)?
Never been to Wales, and want to get the most out of our day there. Can anyone help us?
