car rental or taxi from ferry

Hello all

Just trying to figure out our best option for staying in area after we take ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. We wanted to rent a car for 5-6 days and tour around Wales and then return to Holyhead.....Not sure how far the car pickup is from ferry and how late we can pick up

Also considering taking a taxi from Ferry to Anglesy

Thanks in advance

One idea may be to use public transport for a few days and a rental car for the remainder.

The town (and port) of Holyhead are on an Island called Holy Island which is attached by a road and rail causeway to mainland Anglesey which, in turn, is attached to mainland Wales.

Anglesey (Ynys Mon in Welsh) is particularly good for cycling and walking.

There is a good public transport system in place and unlimited bus travel "Red Rover" day tickets can be bought on the bus the driver for £6.80 and is valid as far east as Llandudno.

Holyhead also has a good rail service with fast rail links to Bangor city, Llandudno Junction (change here for the popular victorian resort of Llandudno). The rail station is in the ferry terminal as are the car rental firm/s.

This will give an idea of the rail network:

The car rental desk is in the station complex at the ferry port, whether they are open when the late ferries get in you would have to ask them. Personally I would rent a car for the whole 5 days.

when we went as foot passengers on the ferry, there was a shuttle bus for the (short) journey from the ferry to the railway station
