Staying over - CIA

Hi - I'm coming to Cardiff for one mid-week night to attend a concert at the CIA. I know the Big Sleep is close - can anyone recommend anything else close that is cheap? I'll be staying on my own, so nowhere too seedy, please ......

Does that mean you stay in seedy places if accompanied ? :-)

The Etap hotel is reasonable £32 per room and is walkable from the CIA but JimCardiffResident usually recommends b+b's in Cathedral road, here's something from one of his previous posts

There are three B&Bs in Cathedral Road which seem to rate consistently well for comfort and character They are:

The Beaufort:

Lincoln House:

and Preste Gaarden:

There is a Travelodge on the bottom end of St Mary's Street which is a 2-3 minute walk from the CIA

Hi AnnTee

Many of the budget hotels near the CIA: Big Sleep, Ibis, Travelodge, have had very mixed reviews so I would hesitate to recommend them without you reading the reviews first and making up your own mind on budget v quality.

Not sure if you are into hostels but there are two '4 star' ones fairly near (but still probably a short taxi ride late at night) - The Nomad http://www.nomadcardiff.co.uk/

and the Nos Da: http://www.nosda.co.uk/

You might strike lucky if you try to see if there are any deals on in the next category up:

The Park Inn (formerly Jury's) is right across the road from the CIA - it's a bit more upmarket than the budget places, but itself not immune from poor reviews. Take care though, as there are two Park Inn's in Cardiff - one in the city centre and one miles out in Llanedeyrn.

Other than that - see if you can check out deals on other close ones: the Marriott, the Novotel (you'd probably still need a taxi for that one though), The Holland House.

As Bruv said your best chance of a quality deal is probably on a B and B. In addition to the ones he mentioned in Cathedral Road the newly taken over Avala in Newport Road is coming up trumps on reviews here. Nearer than Cathedral Road but still a short taxi ride away.

Good luck!
