Accommodation on a shoestring!

Hi There

Going to Cardiff for a few days and on budget accommodation wise!

Has any one used 'The Big Sleep' or the Etap before? What is the area the Etap is in like? Is is walkable to the sights?

Hi Katy

I think the best bet is to start by reading the reviews on here about Etap and the Big Sleep. They are mixed and really depend on people's expectations. The Big Sleep is better proximity wise to the centre. Etap is a little bit further away though still easily reachable on foot from the centre, but the area may not be the most comfortable to be a lone female in at night. That said - best read the reviews and see what you think. Another thought is to stay at one of the hostels. Nos Da for example is just across the river from the Millennium Stadium:

While the Big Sleep may be slightly more convenient for the city centre, equally the Etap is slightly more convenient for Cardiff Bay.

They're on either side of the main railway line to each other. So you'll probably have to cross or go under the railway whichever one you stay in!

Cardiff is not a large city with a lot of the central area within walking distance.

Have you looked at the B&B reviews where you might find something good within your budget? Cathedral Road has a number of B&Bs and is within walking distance of central Cardiff.

Hi Katy

I'm the manager of The Avala Guesthouse and I was thinking that you could look on the booking.com website, there are usually some good deals there. some of the backpackers offer really good deals as well if you are happy to share facilities.

The guest houses on Cathedral Road and Newport road are quite close to the city and some of them are very nice.

Have a good trip to Cardiff
