Parking & Eating - Cardiff International Arena

We are coming over to the CIA on Saturday night. On our last visit the parking was extortionate and we ended up in Burger King! Can anyone recommend cheap parking and a decent restaurant within 15 mins walking distance of the CIA. Unfortunately I don't think we will have time for the restaurants in the Bay area.

Thanks

If you harbour thoughts of visiting the Bay it might be worth considering actually parking at the Red Dragon Centre next to the Millennium Centre down the Bay itself; free if you get your parking ticket validated by buying something as simple as a glass of coke (or more elaborate as dinner at one of the the restaurants). If you had the inclination you might make time for a wander around Mermaid Quay, or try one of the restaurants there instead of the Red Dragon Centre.

You could then walk across to the train over the road and take the three minute journey to Queen Street Station (£1.90). Its a short walk to the CIA from there, and you could be killing two birds with one stone. Sounded like a good idea in my head anyway!

Also register for www.vouchers.co.uk. Most of the restaurant vouchers don't cover Saturdays (or weekends generally) but the last time I looked there was a BOGOF for the Gourment Burger Kitchen which you'll find down Cardiff Bay. You may be lucky and find others that are valid as well.

Things have got better since last you were here! The new St David's Dewi Sant shopping centre - right next to the CIA - has 1000s of parking spaces which are just £1 from 5pm to 6am the following day

Ah, so that will be what all the building work was then?!! Sounds like we have the parking element of our trip sorted. Cheers

Yep, thats the best place to park really.

As for restaurants, there is a huge choice within 15 minutes walk of the CIA. Possibly best to state your cuisine preferences?

Have a pre-gig pint in the Traders Tavern or Vulcan though. Two top-notch pubs.

Thanks everyone

I didn't realise the work on St Davids #2 was so extensive - I've just checked their website and it looks like we are sorted for parking and spoilt for choice in terms of somewhere to get a quick bite.

To all of you on the "wrong" side of the bridge - Cardiff is one sorted city - all the venues close together, great transport links - well done!
